Prof Sreevas Sahasranamam

Biography

Sreevas is a Professor in International Business and Entrepreneurship at the Adam Smith Business School. His research predominantly focuses on understanding the strategic and ecosystem enablers of innovations/start-ups tackling UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

His research on ecosystems and social entrepreneurship has been published in leading management journals including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of World Business, and British Journal of Management. He also regularly write blogs for the World Economic Forum and was shortlisted for the Financial Times - McKinsey Bracken Bowen Prize in 2018. He is a co-editor for the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research (an ABS 3 ranking journal). He also co-lead of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) UK and am one of the co-authors of the GEM global report that presents an annual picture of entrepreneurial trends and attitudes globally.

In addition, his research has been quoted in policy documents such as the G20 Startup policy paper in 2023 and is used by both the UK and Scottish governments in their national reporting on entrepreneurship. His research has also been acknowledged by multiple government officials including the Prime Minister of India and multiple Indian government ministers. His work has also been cited in multiple media outlets including the BBC, STV, The Herald Scotland, The Times, The Economic Times, The Business Line, and The Business Standard, among others.

Sreevas was a co-chair of the G20 Startup20 taskforce on sustainability which developed a startup ecosystem policy communique to offer to G20 leaders at the G20 summit in 2023. He is a co-creator of an open social movement - SDGZero- that envisions creating bottom-up approaches to solving SDG challenges by enabling local communities. He is also a board member and one of the Directors of Community Enterprise in Scotland (CEIS), the UK's largest and most experienced social enterprise support agency.

Before joining the Adam Smith Business School, Sreevas was an academic at the Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Strathclyde Business School. He completed his PhD at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and subsequently briefly held a post doctoral visiting researcher position at the University of Liverpool Management School.
