Usernames and password
- For most IT services, use your UofG email address as your username along with your password
- You will need your GUID (Glasgow Unique IDentifier) as your username for some services at the University (such as student and staff desktops).
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required on most University systems. You will be prompted to use MFA the first time you log in and occasionally thereafter.
Password self service
Changing your password for one service changes it for ALL services, including eduroam Wi-Fi.
Please note there can be a delay of up to five minutes between changing your password and the update being made to systems.
Your password
Your password is known only to you. Do not share it with anyone!
Passwords are required to be changed once per year. You will receive reminder emails when your password is due to be changed - if you do not do this, your account will be locked.
New staff
Register to get your GUID and your temporary password.
Even if you already know your GUID, you still need to register before you can access IT services.
Access to most IT services is done automatically.
Once you've registered and set a new password, multi-factor authentication can be enabled.
Honorary & Affiliated status
If you have staff with Honorary or Affiliate status, contact your local IT support to request access to IT services for them.
